Syagen’s Mass Spectrometry Technology

Mass spectrometry (MS) is one of the most exacting methods for performing chemical analysis. Two of the most powerful types of MS systems are quadrupole ion trap (QIT) and time-of-flight (TOF). Syagen was the first company to develop a commercial MS system that combined the power of these two technologies and Syagen remains the leader in providing the hybrid QitTof™ MS solution to key applications in Homeland Security and Life Sciences. The QitTof is the only hybrid MS system capable of providing the power of MSn selected ion-mass fragmentation to give detailed structure and sequencing information on molecules as well as accurate mass determination. Furthermore the QitTof is capable of performing chemical analysis about 10x faster and with up to 10x more sensitivity and dynamic range than other MS technologies. These capabilities are key to meeting the challenges of performing high-speed, high-throughput chemical identification for threat compounds such as explosives and chemical/biological weapons as well as for clinical diagnostic, health care assays such as drugs and proteins.
