  • This is a senior technical position at Syagen Technology operating as the engineering lead for all mechanical and systems engineering activities. The position requires a self-starter able to take initiative and engage in problem solving and to work effectively with the engineering development team in a fast paced environment. An ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a small team environment are essential. The company has aggressive growth plans and applicants must be able to demonstrate suitable experience to grow along with the company.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead mechanical engineering projects associated with design, prototyping and manufacture of mass spectrometry based instrumentation
    • Design and build for manufacturability
    • Work in a team environment with scientists and engineers to set product specifications
    • Manage supplier contracts and relationships, including price negotiations, in the supplier base
    • Develop, implement and maintain procedures and documentation for fabrication, assembly and testing of products
    • Be a champion for product quality and manage quality control process and procedures per existing ISO 9001 certification and maintain highest levels of production quality
    • Sustaining engineering updates for PhotoMate APPI, OEM component product line

    Qualifications:

    • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with minimum of 5 years of industry experience
    • Candidate must have strong design skills and be an advanced user of the SolidWorks CAD software program
    • Experience with precision machining, vacuum systems, system and subsystem integration
    • Strong hands-on prototyping and debugging skills
    • Must have strong people skills, good written and verbal communication abilities, as well as possess strong business acumen
    • Understanding in engineering documentation processes and engineering department management, highly desirable
    • Project manager experience a strong plus
