Syagen’s MS trace detection technology and portal air sample collection system is now being combined for the detection of narcotics concealed on the person. This capability is essential to help stem the tide of illicit drug smuggling. People now concealing drugs under their clothing will soon be detected with Syagen’s MS Narcotics Trace Portal. This MS based Narcotics Trace Portal (NTP) is in development and scheduled to soon undergo testing by international customs authorities for use on arriving airline passengers clearing through the customs entry process, at their airports. Although, it could be used to interdict concealed narcotics at any checkpoint location people walk through, including correctional facilities.The MS Vs IMS detection advantage is even greater for narcotic compounds then for explosive compounds. As explained in the “MS vs. IMS” section, MS has far greater resolving power for detecting a much greater number of illicit substances. Even more importantly, MS discriminates against the vast number of background compounds present.
Syagen’s MS narcotics analyzer detects essentially any drug compound, including the major narcotics such as cocaine, heroin (and their hydrochlorides), methamphetamine, morphine, MDMA (Ecstasy), LSD, and THC.
