GC/MS Developer

This position will involve gas chromatography (GC) and time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOFMS) design and component integration in support of a field-portable GC/TOFMS system and for specific homeland security related detection systems. The candidate must have extensive experience in design, development, and implementation of GC technologies to MS and strong knowledge of MS. Knowledge of biological and chemical weapons detection is highly desirable. The position involves design and integration of a fast GC and flexible sampling options (e.g., solid-phase microextraction, liquid, and air sampling) to a TOFMS, applications development, and on-site field testing. The position includes some travel.

Responsibilities:
· Develop product specifications (operation, hardware, and software)
· GC design and integration to MS
· Manage and perform government R&D contracts
· Work effectively with vendors, commercial partners and customers
· Coordinate and execute field tests and customer demos
· Interact effectively with engineering, scientific, management, and manufacturing staff

Qualifications
· PhD (or BS, MS with exceptional skill) and 10 years experience in GC/MS development
· Previous experience working with government contracts highly desirable
· Hands-on design, prototyping, debugging, and optimization skills
· Strong determination to meet program milestones
· Excellent communication skills and ability to participate in and lead team efforts
