Jack A. Syage, PhD, CEO and President

Jack has 25 years of experience in creating and leading the development of innovative technologies in the analytical and aerospace industries. He has led Syagen since its inception and has forged several commercial partnerships with key industry leaders and has been awarded about 50 government contracts and grants. His honorary positions have included member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Physical Chemistry, invited participant at the Nobel Symposium in Chemistry, Visiting Professor at the University of California, Irvine, Visiting Professor at the Universit de Paris-Sud, Orsay France, Plenary Lecturer at the Okazaki Conference, and Chairman of a DOE Committee that established a National Environmental Facility. Jack has published over 120 papers and delivered over 50 invited talks in fields of mass spectrometry, trace detection, and ultrafast spectroscopy, and has over 20 U.S. patents issued or pending. He has appeared on the list of the Most Highly Cited Chemists of the last two decades. He received a BA in Chemistry from Hamilton College and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Brown University and received several academic awards including the Best Thesis Prize. Jack was a postdoctoral fellow at Caltech under Nobel Laureate Ahmed Zewail.

Chris J. McBee, Director Sales and Marketing

Chris brings over 20 years of experience in technical sales, marketing, and business development into his role at Syagen. He has extensive familiarity with the security detection and instrumentation markets. Over his career, he has helped develop and introduced 23 new products and created promotional strategies and distribution networks for them. He also has extensive international business experience encompassing over 60 countries and has managed several multi-million dollar sales of security detection systems to the US Government. Prior to joining Syagen, he was the Director of International Security Sales, at Thermo Fisher Scientific (2003-2007), selling explosive trace and radiation detection instrumentation. As business development manager for SAIC Safety and Security Instruments (1998-2001), he pioneered the market for cargo inspection systems used by customs authorities. He holds a BS in Physics from San Diego State University (1987) and an MBA from Univ. of California, Irvine (2004).

Alan K. Junor, Director of Engineering

Alan has 20 years of experience in mechanical engineering and the design of high precision parts for manufactured products. He has been with Syagen since 2006. Prior to joining Syagen, Alan was the Project Manager for PVP-AEO on the Commander's Pan Viewer used on the General Dynamics Stryker Combat vehicle. Alan was also the Sr. Mechanical Engineer for Optics 1 on the CoLOSSIS X-Ray imaging camera built for Lawrence Livermore National Lab. He was also the Sr. Mechanical Designer for GigaTera Inc. developing lasers for high-speed data transmission. His initial foray into Opto-mechanical design was as Manager of Mechanical Products for the Pulsion FS Surgical Laser, built by Abbott Medical Optics (formerly Intralase). Alan is a graduate of the Art Center College of Design, in Pasadena, and possesses a high level of aesthetic design proficiency. He is also a Certified SolidWorks instructor with over 20,000 hours of hands-on experience, which ensures a high quality process oriented approach to product development and products that look as well as they perform.

Chris Le, Controller

Chris Le has 13 years of experience in management accounting, working for several large and small manufacturing and distribution companies. He was the sr. accounting manager for Minka Group, a leading distributor of lighting and fans. He has managed accounting, human resources, payroll, and Information Technology for several small manufacturing companies, in the aerospace and plastic injection molding industries in Southern California. Chris holds a BS in accounting from the University of Southern California.
